The Sage Motel is conveniently located on SD Highway 212 as you enter Gettysburg from the east. There is easy access from the highway and also offers limited semi-parking.

The Sage is an older motel with recently upgraded rooms that include wireless internet, cable TV, refrigerators, microwaves, clocks and telephones with free local calling. Pets are welcome, and coffee is always available in the lobby. All rooms have direct access from the outside with parking right outside your door. When you stay here you will experience that wonderful, warm mom and pop motel personality.
The Sage is located in the heart of the finest hunting and fishing areas in South Dakota. Hunters are accommodated with a bird cleaning station, freezer storage for their birds and an onsite area to tether their dogs. Outside plug-ins make it a breeze for fishermen to back up their boats and plug them in right outside their door.
Manager Sandy Fasse has lived in Gettysburg for 30 years. Sandy is knowledgeable about the hunting and fishing in the area and can give insight to some of the hotspots.
Hunting opportunities include pheasant, prairie chicken, sharp-tailed grouse, ducks, geese, partridge, prairie dogs, antelope, mule deer and whitetail deer. If you enjoy fishing, you’ll love Whitlock Bay. Located on the Missouri River’s beautiful Lake Oahe, known for its great walleye fishing is just a 15 minute drive west of the motel.
West Whitlock State Park, located 18 miles west of Gettysburg offers a swimming beach, boat ramp, and fish cleaning stations. Other boat docks with cleaning stations include East Whitlock Recreation Area, South Whitlock Resort and one located just below the hill at Bob’s Resort. The salmon fish hatchery located near West Whitlock Recreation Area is another added attraction.
Other area points of interest include the Mysterious Medicine Rock and the Dakota Sunset Museum. The Dakota Kruzers Car Club hosts an annual show the last weekend of June every summer. Liberty Lanes will satisfy your bowling needs and Gettysburg Country Club is located just north of the motel. The Medicine Rock Café is located directly across the highway to satisfy your breakfast and lunch needs.
